Both positions require proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite Applications, current knowledge of digital lifestyles and current technical trends. Travel will be required in these positions.

Digital Literacy Instructor -- Job Description

Job Summary:

Deliver the curriculum for the Digital Literacy Program in various Aboriginal communities throughout the Province of New Brunswick.  The Digital Literacy Program is a mobile program and as such, a condition of employment is the requirement that the Digital Literacy Instructor travels regionally to meet learner demand in the regions JEDI serves and the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds. 

The position requires a reliable and regularly maintained vehicle. The Digital Literacy Instructor will facilitate daily classroom sessions for the duration of the contract. These classes can be held during the day while not going over the 37.5 working hours each week. 

The Digital Literacy Instructor is responsible for working with a classroom assistant to foster a positive learning environment and encourage all learners to set their own goals. To assist the learner in meeting their goals the Digital Literacy Instructor must develop and distribute lesson plans each session. 

The Digital Literacy Instructor is responsible for weekly reporting procedures (mileage, JEDI reports, learner files, etc…) and additional duties as required.  JEDI staff will support the position through recruitment of students, classroom set-up, and general oversight of the course delivery.

Working Relationships:

The Digital Literacy Instructor will work closely with JEDI project staff, clients, and other Digital Literacy instructors.

The individual in this position could be engaged in the following activities:

Major Responsibilities:

1. Delivers and facilitates adult learning to help learners achieve goals and follows the curriculum and uses the suggested resources to meet curriculum objectives. Must facilitate 10 learners for a total of 30 hours of instruction per week. Provides positive guidance and encouragement both academically and emotionally.  Establishes relationships/rapport with learners - 80% or 30 hours per week spent on program instruction during the classroom portion of the delivery.

2. Administration – Create lesson plans and exercises.  Maintain learner files, respond to telephone and email daily, weekly tracking sheet and end of course reports, other duties as necessary assigned - 20% or 7.5 hours per week.  In addition, three full days of preparation and two full days of wrap-up will be paid before/after each program delivery.

Qualifications:

The ability to facilitate both individual and group learning is required.  The ability to use a variety of teaching/learning strategies in order to engage learners with diverse learning needs and styles is a must.

Required Experience:  Minimum number of years of relevant work experience required:  experience facilitating training with adults, training in the computer field at any level will be considered.  

Required technical qualifications:  Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Applications, experience working with online databases, current knowledge of digital lifestyles and current technical trends.

Asset Qualifications: A Bachelor of Education Degree or a Bachelor Degree in any discipline plus an Adult Education Certificate and Computer Training Certification such as IC3 or ICDL an asset.

Digital Literacy Teaching Assistant -- Job Description

Prior classroom experience is an asset, but not required.
