JEDI Community Fund

Every year proceeds from JEDI’s Annual Golf tournament go directly into the JEDI Community Fund. This fund was created to support various Indigenous-led initiatives throughout the province. The objective of the community fund is to allow JEDI to assist communities with financial requests that fall outside of JEDI’s mandate.

JEDI Community Fund Parameters

The community fund will be allocated as fairly as possible and reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The community fund will only be used to support initiatives related to communities and their endeavours or Indigenous initiatives that support communities.

The community fund will support initiatives according to the following priorities:

  • Cultural Events

  • Community Group Events

  • Youth and Elders initiatives that are community-focused (for culturally focused initiatives please see our Cultural Revitalization Fund).

  • Donations towards events that create awareness around Indigenous-led initiatives.

Some examples of items that fall under these priorities are community pow-wows, food banks, Truth and Reconciliation Day events, Wolastoqiyik Sisters in Spirit MMIW2S+ awareness events, community solar eclipse celebration, Heritage Hockey Classic, guest speakers, traditional gatherings, multi-community events, and fundraising events where the money goes to community-related issues/activities.

Examples of items that are not covered are fund-raising for individuals or individual-focused.

To request support from the JEDI Community fund, send your written request to Stanley Barnaby at Stanley.barnaby@jedinb.ca. In your submission, please include the full details of your initiative, including the date, location, description, and monetary amount requested.

Monetary support usually ranges between $500 - $1000 per request. All requests will be evaluated in the priority of when they are received.
