Indigenous Adult Learning & Literacy Program

Indigenous Adult Learning & Literacy Program

JEDI's Digital Literacy Program is changing to the Indigenous Adult Learning & Literacy (IALL) program.

The IALL helps Indigenous people achieve their goals by linking them to opportunities to obtain their GED, master the 9 Workplace Essential Skills and/or to enhance their computer skills.

The Indigenous Adult Learning & Literacy Program offers:

  • Career-planning programs,
  • Links to Workplace Essential Skills,
  • GED programs,
  • Digital Literacy training,
  • Financial Literacy workshop (Your Money Matters),
  • Cyber Security training, and
  • Customized learning for First Nations communities and Indigenous people in New Brunswick.

The IALL program builds on the success of the prior Aboriginal Workplace Essential Skills (NBAWES) program and the Aboriginal Digital Literacy program.

In addition to the courses listed above, JEDI is building capacity within First Nations communities by offering 2 Train-the-Trainer programs: Workplace Essential Skills and Digital Literacy with the goal of establishing Community Adult Learning & Digital Literacy Labs. These new labs will be located in First Nation communities and Indigenous organizations across the province.

The Community Adult Learning & Digital Literacy Labs will help to ensure that there is better access to learning opportunities for Indigenous people in New Brunswick. These labs will be designed to create a safe learning environment where learners can become work-ready by learning or enhancing their essential skills, literacy, technological skills and soft skills.
