Metepenagiag Mi’kmaq Nation has announced the upcoming opening of the Riverside Entertainment Centre located in Miramichi, NB in December 2013 with the official Grand Opening scheduled for January 2014.

The Riverside Entertainment Centre is an 18,000 square foot venue that includes a pub and dining room, a gaming lounge, and a multi-purpose event room. The event room is perfect for weddings, banquets and concerts and is the largest location with a seated venue in Miramichi.

“This is a really exciting time for Metepenagiag,” said Michael Bidlake, Food & Beverage / Human Resources Consultant for Riverside Entertainment Centre. “There are a ton of job opportunities opening up to our First Nation communities now and they will continue in the future.”

The Riverside Entertainment Centre is currently recruiting for many part-time and full-time positions:

  • Sales and marketing
  • Maintenance
  • Cooks
  • Stewards
  • Wait Staff
  • Bartenders
  • Security
  • Custodians

“The Riverside Entertainment Centre is a Mi’kmaq business venture created to support the local economy and bring jobs to First Nations and neighboring communities in the Miramichi Region,” said Penny Polchies, Provincial Aboriginal Employment Coordinator with JEDI. “The benefits are endless when jobs are created because it brings everyone a sense of pride and it allows for personal and community growth.  Creating sustainable employment means sustainable economy for the First Nations and particularly to the city of Miramichi.”
