JEDI’s next Plenary is June 4th at the Rodd Miramichi, the theme is Shipbuilding.

Click here to register for the Plenary.

JEDI has been in the process of developing a New Brunswick Aboriginal Shipbuilding Engagement Strategy that will help Aboriginal people in New Brunswick receive the maximum benefit from the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS), a $25 Billion project based in Eastern Canada.

JEDI has developed this strategy by talking to members of the Aboriginal community in NB during 6 community dialogue sessions and conducting meetings with key stakeholders. This draft strategy will be presented at the Plenary and will feature a round-table discussion to get additional feedback and input.

Irving Shipbuilding will also be presenting at the Plenary. They will provide us with an update on their current and planned shipbuilding activities as a result of the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy (NSPS).

Please join us at the Plenary to:

  • Learn about the employment and businesses opportunities surrounding the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy;
  • Participate in the discussion surrounding the New Brunswick Aboriginal Engagement Shipbuilding Strategy;
  • And visit the shipbuilding business and Aboriginal business trade booths that will be at the Plenary.

Register for the Plenary today!

JEDI is also in the process of creating a skills database of Aboriginal people in NB and a database of Aboriginal businesses in NB. Both of these databases will help us determine the Aboriginal resources needed now and in the future in relation to the shipbuilding project and the indirect and spin-off jobs that will be created as a result of this lucrative project.

If you would like to sign up for the shipbuilding database today, please contact Cameron Paul at 444-5650 or Cameron.paul@jedinb.ca.
