JEDI Graduates 4 Indigenous Tourism Businesses from their Business Accelerator

In spite of Covid-19, JEDI completed our most recent Indigenous Tourism Accelerator program on time and without missing a beat. Although it was necessary to shut down our in-person classroom during week 6, JEDI and our training partners, BDO Canada, were able to pivot immediately to an online format that consisted of a mix of online classes and one-on-one online meetings. In fact, because of the new challenges created by Covid-19, in addition to the regular curriculum, we added additional content relating to contingency planning plus assisted clients in navigating the new government financial support programs.

JEDI’s Tourism Business Accelerator program provides 10 weeks of learning focused on market and export readiness, structuring business for investment, intellectual property, quality assurance, sales, and positioning for maximum growth within the tourism industry. JEDI also provides businesses with mentors and advisors ranging from tourism to law to accounting. In addition, JEDI provides all clients with a tailor-made after-care program based on their current wants and needs.

Covid-19 has been a challenge for many businesses over the last few months but tourism businesses have been hit particularly hard. Our clients have had to learn new online tools, explore different ways of doing business including offering new and different products and services, and adjusting their target audience to include a focus on local tourism.

As restrictions and guidelines loosen and you make plans to enjoy the summer months locally, be sure to support our local Indigenous Tourism Businesses. They appreciate your support and look forward to providing you with quality products and services.

We invite all visitors to come and be immersed into the Mi'kmaq culture and way of life at Elsipogtog First Nation. Through our one of kind experience, visitors will receive a traditional greeting, enter the community teepee, and participate in a smudging ceremony before being guided along the Heritage Path. While taking in the natural beauty of the forest and connecting with nature, guests will hear stories, learn the traditional ways of using Mother Nature’s gifts and sample some homemade and local Mi'kmaq cuisine.
