Brody Lambert’s Journey with the IM&M+ Program

Brody Lambert, a former participant of the In Motion & Momentum+ (IM&M+) program, completed the course in March 2026. Currently, Brody lives in Neguac, New Brunswick, but he took the program in Burnt Church (Esgenoôpetitj). Brody has faced ongoing challenges related to both autism and Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) throughout his life. Prior to joining the program, he was helping by working in transportation for foster children within his community.

Brody first learned about the IM&M+ program through a friend who had seen it promoted on social media. Encouraged by the opportunity, he decided to apply, hoping to explore new possibilities and begin building a more structured path toward his future career.

Through his participation in the program, Brody gained valuable skills, confidence, and direction. He is now considering further education at NBCC, with an interest in pursuing a career in the skilled trades. For Brody, finding a program and career path that aligned with his strengths and needs had been a significant challenge. Living with autism and FASD meant that adapting to new learning environments and building confidence in his abilities often required extra perseverance and determination. Despite these challenges, Brody remained committed to his goals and worked hard to overcome barriers as he pursued a new career path.

The IM&M+ program provided a supportive, community-centered environment where he felt welcomed and empowered to learn and grow. “Learning new things was a challenge for me but once I got used to it and stuck with it I liked it a lot”.

One of the most meaningful aspects of Brody’s experience was the opportunity to develop both personal and professional skills. He particularly enjoyed learning CPR and sewing, two hands-on experiences that left a lasting impression. Reflecting on how the program broadened his interests, Brody shared, “Another course I’m now thinking about taking is heavy equipment operator.” The program’s diverse training opportunities exposed him to a range of potential career paths while equipping him with practical, transferable skills. “I'd like to maybe look into doing a trade like electrical or welding”.

Brody also valued the chance to connect with others. Building friendships and working collaboratively on group projects helped him strengthen his teamwork abilities, while individual assignments allowed him to build independence and confidence.

In addition, the program provided essential employment readiness training. Brody developed strong skills in resume writing and interview preparation, which he is now actively applying as he

explores job opportunities in the trades sector. He looks forward to continuing to build on these skills as he navigates his job search and future educational pathways.

Overall, Brody describes the IM&M+ program as a pivotal experience, one that helped him feel secure, supported, and capable of overcoming long-standing challenges. Completing the program and setting clear future goals has been a significant accomplishment, strengthening his confidence as he moves forward into the workforce.
