Upcoming Information Sessions on Apprenticeship for Aboriginals in NB

Lori Nash November 19, 2013

JEDI is holding two information sessions on the New Brunswick  Apprenticeship program during the month of November. These sessions will cover the pre-requisites required to enter the program, an overview of the program, the benefits Aboriginal Peoples can receive from signing up for the program, and there will be a Q&A at the end of each session.

The information sessions are for Aboriginal Peoples who are considering entering the trades industry or who are currently working in the trades industry but not in the apprenticeship program. If you have been working in a particular trade for several years, come to the information session to find out if you can use these hours towards the program.

Information Sessions:

November 20th, 2013 - 1:30pm

Elsipogtog First Nation

Economic Development Training Centre

November 25th, 2013 - 1:30pm

St. Mary's First Nation

St. Mary's First Nation Cultural Centre

“There are many Aboriginals already trained within the Trades within New Brunswick and the information sessions will provide an avenue to identify, work with and start the path towards Certification and registering apprentices,” says Jimmy Arnold, Provincial AALAC with JEDI.

The goal of the Apprenticeship program at JEDI is to provide New Brunswick Aboriginal Peoples with a direct contact to help them access and understand the Apprenticeship program run by the provincial government under Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour.

If you are an Aboriginal person currently working in the trades industry or if you would like to learn more about the JEDI Apprenticeship program, please contact Jimmy Arnold at 506-444-5650.
